“And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.” Acts 22:16
When I graduated from high school, like most graduates, I attended a ceremony. That ceremony marked a milestone in my life. There were caps and gowns, speeches, diplomas, and lots of emotion. Everyone who witnessed the ceremony knew that something significant was happening: a group of twelfth graders had completed four years of academia and were entering into a new chapter in their lives.
Baptism is a similar event. It is a milestone in the life of a Christian, often a very early milestone. It is an outward sign of an inward transformation. The inward transformation is one of faith. A true Christian is one who believes that Jesus is the Saviour, the Son of God, and wants to follow Him. When that change happens in your life, you should be baptized. The bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that when a man or woman is “in Christ” the old has gone and the new has come.
Baptism pictures the old being gone: going under the water. Then, it pictures the new coming: coming up out of the water. Death and Resurrection!
Have you been baptized? Next Sunday morning at 9:00am, we are going to have a beach baptism! (Details below)
Here’s who should be baptized:
– any Christian who has never been baptized
– any Christian who had been baptized as an infant, but not as a believer
– any Christian who may have slid back into sin and has since recommitted their life to Christ.
If you’d like to be baptized, please let us know by responding to this email.
